Heat Wave

July 23, 2008

Can it get any hotter? … wow.  This humidity is crazy.  Soleil and I started hanging out at the Thames Park Pool to keep cool.  Yesterday we spent a good chunk of the day.  We brought a picnic, toys and blanket. Summer is good!

Introducing the soon to be married, Allison and Ravi. I will be photographing the wedding later this summer but we got together last weekend for a warm up shoot. Ravi works and Chicago and doesn’t have much time in Ontario these days so we decided to photograph in their hometown of Waterloo. They suggested the location and I could not be happier. There was so many different looks in this 1 block radius. Just a fun day in Waterloo… except for the Stinging Nettles…

Desi + Craig | Wedding

July 17, 2008

You may remember Desi & Craig form their wicked awesome Engagement Session.  Well, two weeks ago it was time to tie the knot and my good buddy Petro Tiahur tagged along and shot some amazing stuff with me.  We had an awesome day despite the incredible heat and humidity.  Everything about the day was perfect from the beautiful bride, the bad ass wedding party, the UWO photoshoot, to our final secret location that had everybody swearing.  Ha ha.  Sorry all!  The photos do look sweet.

New Gear!

July 16, 2008

I forgot to tell you all that I have all new gear this year.  I’ve already been shooting with it for a couple months.  I pimped myself out with all new Canon Pro gear.  What did I get? … what didn’t I get?  I have the awesome Canon 5D body with two sweet lenses the 16-35mm 2.8, and the 70-200mm 2.8.  After all that, I still had room in my bag so I filled it with other fun things that will make the next year simply amazing.

Soleil’s 2nd Home

July 8, 2008

I am so very lucky to keep Soleil home every second day but even luckier to have her cared by Donna on the other days.  Donna has to be one of the nicest ladies who genuinely loves each one of the kids that attend her home care.  It’s such a big thing to leave your child with someone else, but such an overwhelming feeling of comfort and happiness to have the environment and care that Donna provides.

Jones | Family

July 8, 2008

I had the opportunity to photograph the Jones family this weekend.  Mike and Jen have two little girls that just don’t stop.  I did try and keep up and these are some of the images I was able to capture.  It was so fun to see how the two girls get along and how much Cassidy loves her little sister, Cali.

Val + Josh | wedding

July 2, 2008

This is from June 21st, it’s my first wedding of the year.  I was stoked to get the season started and I must say Val & Josh kicked it of with some pretty stellar shots.  We photographed in the Reading Gardens at the downtown library.  Val’s dad designed the garden so we got the preferred treatment.  I hope you had a blast on the honeymoon.

Kim + Dave | engaged

June 30, 2008

Wanted to share with you the last engagement shoot I did.  I’m so lucky to get such adventurous couples who are willing to climb, crawl and trespass (we ended up on a private golf course).  Can’t wait to work with them again on their wedding day.

Check out the entire session in the clients section of the my website.   www.ericrockburn.com

Eric’s Leap of Faith

June 30, 2008

I’m finally going solo.  I just left my full-time “working for the man” job.  It was simply the next logical step due to my continuous increase in business.  It’s a little scary to let go of the security of it all, but we, as a family, decided that I can’t afford not to be doing what I love.  It’s such a blessing to get up in the morning and be excited about going to work.  Not to mention the time I get to spend with Soleil.   I now know what it feels to be on the right path. It feels great.

Wow!  I seriously need to pinch my self on a daily basis.

Keri + Kris

June 30, 2008

Had a big wedding this Saturday. Shooting started at 8 am with Kris and his boys.  They were calling for rain and thunderstorms.  Nobody wants rain on their wedding day, but we got very lucky and the rain stopped just in time for the post ceremony photos.  We had changed the original plans due to the wet grass and unpredictable weather, but I think it was well worth it. Keri and Kris were so awesome and were up for anything.

Kris is Polish and the day incorporated many of his traditions.  From the grooms blessing to the bread ceremony to the… tequila?  Their wedding party was such a great group and had a blast.

Cheers!
